The Cherokee offers three engines. The Tigershark MultiAir 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine generates 180 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. This engine has a fuel consumption rate of 10.8/7.6 L/100 km (city / highway) and is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 3.2-litre, six-cylinder Pentastar engine produces 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. It is one of the few V6 engines still available in the compact SUV segment.

The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine is a sportier alternative that generates 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It has a fuel consumption rate of 11.8/9.2 L/100 km and is also mated to a nine-speed transmission.
